Simple Pickleball Rules

  1. The Serve:

    • You start a point by serving the ball underhand.
    • Send the ball across the court to the other team's side.
    • Keep serving until you make a mistake, like missing the serve.
  2. Double Bounce Rule:

    • Let the ball bounce once on each side before hitting it in the air.
  3. Scoring:

    • Play to 11 points and win by 2.
    • Only the team that serves can score if the other team misses the ball.
  4. Serving Order:

    • In doubles, each person gets to serve before it's the other team's turn.
    • Always serve from the right side first.
    • If you score, switch sides and serve to the other team's court.
  5. The Kitchen:

    • There's a seven-foot zone near the net where you can't hit the ball in the air.
  6. Volleys:

    • Hit the ball in the air without letting it bounce, but stay behind the kitchen line.
  7. Faults:

    • A fault is when you break a rule and play stops, like hitting the ball out or stepping into the kitchen and volleying.
  8. Line Calls:

    • If the ball touches any line, it's in, except in serves where it can't touch the kitchen line.
